But where is the action?

By Kaxxie
Saint Mark’s Square. We had the lights......we had the camera.......but the action was not happening. I gave up waiting! We were in Venice a week before Carnival began. Lots of people were already wearing their costumes and some tourists were wearing their masks. The bar to the left of the image was full of people in costume. It was a fabulous sight.

Thank you everyone for your votes and comments on ‘Don’t drop my case’. Thanks for your mod Banehawi. They are very much appreciated.

Take care everyone

Before social distancingGrinGrin Lovely set, Karen.

You've been secretly stashing away a whole lot of great photos. Let's head to Bushy Park with your Nikon when the social dastancing is relaxed and you've had your jab.

Hello Karen, interesting location and activities , not sure what you would like modifications on, but I have the following observations to make:
1. the action seemed to be around the cameramen, but the dressed up characters were not all ready for your camera shots with some looking away, at best, it is an impromptu shot of a group of people waiting for action;
2. victorian dressings and authenticity are incongruous with digital fairy lights (different time frame), so by cropping off the above lighting source, makes the scene more authentic;
3. the downloaded image size is rather small, so modifications works are not really effective considering the rather unsharp original.
Mod 1 shows a cropped version of the scene concentrating on the dressed up characters, with increased colours and sharpening;
mod 2. is a fun jazzed up version with sepia treatment, coarse paper print and a worned out rectangular frame to give the image an air of antiquity.
Hope you like the 2 simple mods. Best wishes. ee. Smile

Thanks for the comments and the two mods sawsengee. I was part of the crowd waiting for the action so the people dressed for Carnival were relaxing and looking at whatever caught their interest. I was there for a while and the lady sitting down was intrigued by something to her left. She never once looked forward! I think the lights are always there, not just for Carnival, so I believed the camera crew had chosen that spot to include the lights which is why I left them in.

Mike, you’re on for Bushy or Richmond Park once we’re allowed to meet people. 2022!?!? I’ll practise with my Nikon. Tony you’d better be sitting down when I start using it!

It’s so strange seeing people so close together. You should have seen the bar on the left of the image. It’s was heaving. There wasn’t even standing room. I did wonder if they were all going to be part of the ‘action’ but our dinner reservation was calling out to us.

I do hope we can get out of social distancing. I even watch films on TV now & think how scarily busy some scenes are.

Take care
