Buttermere

By ade_mcfade
The original RAW and the converted RAW (out of CP1) are in the mods so you can see the 3 stages for yourselves...

Another one from the edge of buttermere - picked this one as I could see there was quite a bit to do with the RAW so probably a good one to do for this little series of "before and after" I'm doing.

The cloud to the right came from nowhere and soaked us....

the RAW conversion was mainly just a curves job + upping the saturation and lowering the exposure a little so the sky's bright bits still had detail.

Once in PS, did separate curves layers on teh sky, midground and foreground - bit of mask blending with a 6% opacity brush - then just a bit of dodging and burning. Levelled up the waterline and cropped.

That kinda thing - not a huge amount of processing, but just added a little mo zing to the shot.

A lovely shot and well worth the effort.

Sadly in many cases people overdo this sort of thing and end up with something that would never exist in nature. You've kept this just at the right level to avoid that - lots of "mo zing" but still a "real" looking pic.

Might have just cropped out the branches on the left, otherwise this is a fine image.
