This is lit by two cheap Meike 320, external, off camera flashes. 1 set to manual and 1 set to slave 1, both at 1/32nd power, shutter speed is 250th sec@ f9.0. I am experimenting with using a 1 way mirror film stuck to part of a frosted plastic folder in front of the flash guns and camera. I want to see if I can disturb insects less by reflecting their environment as I close in with my camera/flash set-up, rather than a home made soft box, which I would think some insects might find threatening.

I have tried using the set-up with a few different macro subjects from varying distances and the lighting seems fairly tolerant. I have not got super close yet. The system is synchronizing okay as two spots of light show in water droplets. 250th sec@ f9.0
