C for Closed

By DaveRyder
C once stood for Caparo, formerly Head Wrightson, steel press/forge.

Once a major part of the steel industry in Hartlepool when there was two Steel Works (the North and South works) with a blast furnace and associated up and down stream industries.

Liberty and Tata still have some rolling mills so steel not completely gone, but a shadow of what it once was.

Head Wrightson/Caparo

Processed in DxO to a using the HDR Realistic filter (V1).
Then in NIK silver, 1st adding the border.
Then returning to add Antique Plate in order to fade the border too.

Dave
I have to resist making any comments about the shocking decline of UK manufacturing.........................almost impossible !
But a great photo and of social history too.

I am not the biggest fan of HDR, but in this case it has created something akin to the illustrations of old magazines.

The composition is spot on for me.

Agree with Tony - don't get me started!

Thanks for capturing this - love the treatment and we should not only have memories of our steel industry...

Like them both but the mono speaks more to the present situation.
