Caen Hill Locks

By Glostopcat
A set of images taken at the main flight of Caen Hill locks in Devizes on my recent canal boat holiday on the Kennet and Avon Canal. V1 shows the "Foxterrier" going through the main flight of locks. Pictured are Chris A and Gwyn operating the locks, Ken at the front of the boat and the driver Alan at the rear.

Ah, now yesterday the men were all hard at work, I thought it seemed a bit unnatural. Here we have a fine bunch of blokes doing what blokes do best, hanging around doing not a lot.

Another interesting set, Ed: love to see these narrow canal boats, and it does look hard work having to navigate through the locks.

Great to see you had good weather, there's nothing worse than when It's throwing it down when you're on a boat trip, especially when you're doing locks as no-one can escape the weather then"

Dunno what will be more tiring Ed.Your mates opening the locks or you jumping out to take the pics !!
Give me a shout when you are going again as I want to come too.
There is an important duty I am excellent at.
Opening the cans of beer without spilling a drop !!

Must have been a great adventure Ed, looks like they could do with a Falkirk Wheel there to eliminate a few locks, good for torism too!
Rgds., Jim
