Caernarfon Castle

By dflory
Tower at Caernarfon Castle, looking towards Anglesey, 2011.
One of Edward the 1st's fine Welsh castles, Caernarfon is possibly the most spectacular. Standing on the banks of the river Sieont, it took 47 years to build, and cost 25,000. Its grand polygonal towers and multicoloured masonry give it an air of Imperial Roman architecture reminiscent of the Wall of Constantinople.
