Calmness to come

By brownsilent
Hello again,

after all the turmoil in my heart and soul during the last week I needed that orgy of light, colour and manipulation - I didn't loose my senses and knew from the start that the calm one would gain your attention and appreciation more - I have to admit, I don't really like it either today.

Back to more seriousness about photography.
This shot is just as it comes from the camera, added only the border.

After Andrew uploaded his mods, I tried to blacken the bg, but I did not really succeed. I always killed the lovely shine of the flames. Tongue
So, if anyone knows how to do it and has the time to tell me - please feel free. Andrew perhaps? - if you find the time...
I'd be forever grateful.

I wish you all a great weekend,

I like it the way it is Johanna, and apart from that I think maybe a bg layer and darken it in the duplicate, then overlay, does that make sense?

All the very best

This is a good set up and the light is nice and warm from the candles.
The LHS candle probably better exposed, look around the base of the flame to see the 'blue'. Is this like the flame on gas cooker where the hottest part is around the base?
Good work Jo.

Jo, this is a creative masterpiece, especially as it is unadulterated by technology. So well conceived and executed - so emotional as a result.

Beautiful image Johanna and the peaceful mood of a vigil. The b/g today has lovely warm tones and looks nicer.
I darkened in yesterday's b/g with a fairly large brush in the clone stamp, using a patch of darkest b/g as the source. Hardness was set to zero and I think I took the opacity down to 60%. If you do this you don't see the edges of the cloned areas. If you still see some light spots then just click again. I kept well away from the flame glows; in fact the b/g I did isn't black; it's just dark without the original lighter areas, but it looks black. Hope this helps.
You forgot to tell me how fantastic my mods were Wink LOL. I really enjoyed playing with the artistic filters, til I saw the time. Never really looked at them before. You inspired me!
