Camellia Japonica - Dr King

By Irishkate
Bought this Camellia in M&S last month. At £15 for a well-developed shrub, I thought was good value.
The image has been taken with the Nikon Coolpix which I have only received last week,
I'm trying it out to see what type of images it can be used for. It's main USP is the fact it can be used underwater but I'm unlikely to be scuba diving or going swimming in the near future.
If any of you have this camera, I'd be curious to know how you've used it.
I thought it might be more unobtrusive than my DSLR for Street Photography..
Many thanks for V&C for Purple Crocus.

I've got the Olympus equivalent, bought several years ago specifically to use underwater. I hardly ever use it for anything else, as the lack of a viewfinder drives me to distraction, and the quality is never going to look great beside an Alpha 7 image.

Weatherproof, though, small, and very tough, so possibly good for walking in extreme conditions. But maybe I should try it on general subjects...

Love the Japonica and the colour and DoF and detail are really good.

I have a small Panasonic walk about and it is handy just to use if you are not wanting to carry a largish camera with you. Some excellent results from mobiles on here and think once you are use to the controls Kate, you'll get into it. Have to watch for shake though as personally I find mine harder to hold steady, that and the lack of a viewfinder...

Good luck!

Kath

Looks to be handy little camera, clicking on the link to display its image and properties. I think you should take up scuba diving and show us some underwater stuff... 🐟🦀 The plant's not bad either! 😁 Seriously, a lovely detailed capture here, Kate 😃👍
