Canal Llanfoist

By SueEley
True digital infra red and some photoshop techniques to create dof effect, plus toning. Was looking for a romantic feel. Not sure if the out of focus areas work.

There is a surreal aspect to this that I rather like. A thoughtful and very individual creation.

Wow Sue! I really like this. Terrific composition - did you stand in the middle of the canal? The IR gives a wonderful dreamy, surreal quality and the blurred area both adds to the dreaminess and serves to hold the attention on the canal and around the bend. Top image. Bruce

Dream-like, mystery with a hint of menace. Paths disappearing round the bend are somehow inviting and intimidating at the same time, and the IR adds to the edginess. I don't think I want to go there on my own.

Great image with a wonderful eerie atmospheric feel. I love the composition with the path and for me the foreground blur adds a sense of passing through spider webs!

Imaginative use of IR here. You could, I think, play around with the toning. I'm not 100% sure the slight sepia tone suits the pic best.

Purely by way of example, I've uploaded a mod using a fairly strong blue-green tone, and pulled back some detail from the highlights, which gives a different feel to the pic.

It looks nice. I think the out of focus area works. It's not just dreamy but it can also feel like there's something in the eye/heart that isn't giving us a focused vision.

Thank you all. I will look into the shading issue. I can see where you are going with the different tone and definition, Carabosse - I'll have to come back to this, as I chose to create a particular feel but I can see that what you have done is strong. Once I see it a few times, it will be easier to work out if I can use this idea to move forward. Thanks again.
