Capitol Steps

By ardbeg77
Steps in front of the Capitol Building, Washington DC. Liked the combination of the textured marble, and the strong lines in the afternoon sun.

Comments and criticism of all varieties welcome.

Thanks for looking!

Great use of shadows and rim lighting on the steps to give a punchy image.

Abstract satisfies, though Moira would probably advise making this a 1x1 size, eliminating the foreground stairs to obtain a more balanced pattern. Not to put words in her mouth, but I have found her advice to be extremely helpful re my own abstracts.

Thanks for the suggestion Bobby. I originally left in portrait as wanted to offset the railings - but would be interesting to see the effect of a square crop. Might be scuppered by the DOF - but I'll give it a go.

Glad you were satisfied Smile Tongue

Have uploaded a cursory square-ish crop as per Bobby's suggestion, which does give a different feel.
