Carbonton Dam

By jlbissette13
This is what's left of the Carbonton Dam on the Deep River in North Carolina. The star trails are about 60, 10 second exposures stacked in Photoshop (I think anyway, I can't remember the exact number). The building and foreground is a 79 second exposure. The pink, yellow, and blue is from different colored gels on a Nikon sb-600. It was nearly a full moon. Thanks for any feedback!

Good image - good balance between light sources, though I would never have known what it was without the intro.
I would have liked a little less grass in the foregound (but without a digger, that might have been hard!) and more startrails ( a wider view, but you are already as wide as your lens can go), so these are nitpicks.

Well done shot. Love the coloured gel idea, and the star trails have worked out very nicely.

You might try darkening the foreground, and bringing along that backhoe would have been a nice touch!

Uploaded a mod with the foreground darkened and de saturated, and removed the wires.

Hasn't this, or something very similar, been here before?

Thanks everyone!

@banehawi I really like your mod, I'm definitely going to darken the foreground some.

@Jestertheclown I uploaded a shot from here that was taken on a different night about a month ago. It was taken from a different angle, and it didn't have star trails. It's a few shots back in my portfolio if you want to see it.

I thought it rang a bell. Should have looked, shouldn't I . . .? !

I think it's great - and that bit of darkness and contrast was the only thing it needed.
