It's actually a different figure (this one has kept a bit more of his nose... ), there are two supporting the two ends of the mantlepiece.

As far as I could tell, plaster was modelled over a mesh frame. There was a fair amount of cheating here - there are 'classical statues' on the walls above, where fabric was soaked in liquid plaster and then draped over body casts...
Seems odd he looks to be hollow! But a very well composed and framed capture, Moira, nice tones and textures too 👍
