Castell y Gwynt

Sometimes I wonder if getting conditions like this is luck or determination. I certainly couldn't have predicted them as it wasn't mentioned on the forecast but on the flipside, if I hadn't have gone up I would have missed out...Arriving in Snowdonia it was typical, grey and threatening to rain. The Glyders and Snowdon were massively cloud capped and to top it all off I had lost my wallet in Macclesfield. Foruntately it was handed in but it nearly made me turn back...All of this didn't matter though,. the pull of the mountains was too much and I made my way up in the hope of the forecast for sunrise staying good. ..I pitched my tent after navigating in the clag and set myself up for a relaxing evening of just enjoying being outside...Snowdonia had different ideas though. A little light broke through early on and then it chucked it down. I thought it was teasing me but I made my way over to Bristly Ridge to try and capture some light over Tryfan if it broke...Instead what happened was I ended up having to rush back to Castell Y Gwynt over the minefield of ankle breaking rocks which don't allow you to get anywhere quick...The clag that was persistantly blocking the sun before had started to break up allowing some of the most atmospheric and brilliant conditions I had seen in a long time...I would have marked this spot as a sunrise location as I didn't really think it would work shooting into the sun, but with conditions like this, it works perfectly. Thankfully, I managed to make it in the nick of time, not mess up my focus and fire about 3 shots along the way before the magic was over.

I'd be over the moon if I did this despite the tribulation. Bravo.
