The Castle Barge is a pub on the river Trent near Newark Castle. It was first built in 1923 and was formerly a Spillers grain barge working between Gainsborough and Hull. Its original name was Ril Elsie.
It carried the equivalent of 20 lorry loads of grain at a time, It was sold for scrap value of £2000 in 1979. It was converted in 1980 by North County Breweries of Hull, the main work being carried out at Fiskerton near Newark.
