Catching Air 1

By rowarrior
Went up to the Sno!zone Summer Session in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow today. Basically they dumped tonnes of snow onto one of the hills in the park and built up various ramps and jumps, then had stunt snowboarders and skiers throwing themselves down the course.

I didn't get hundreds of great pics (actually, I have a nice collection of sky shots if anyone wants some lol) but I did get a few. This was one of my favourites.

I realise that ideally one would like more space on the right, but he was a fast moving subject, and you're lucky he's all in the frame at all lol

Not sure if I should crop the snow/trees off the bottom or not, let me know!

I saw this on the news and had to check it wasn't April 1st again...
Anyhow, well captured; an easier way to achieve the crop would have been to shoot horizontal rather than upright - also easier to get the boarder (& board) in the frame.
Good effort.

Thanks. My problem was that there were skiers and boarders, and the boarders were nice and compressed like this, but the skiers were longer, so wouldn't have fit horizontally - can't win, they were coming down totally randomly too!

Damn it I am so gutted I couldn’t make it along!
This is a great capture, nicely done. Maybe crop out the bit of ice in the corner and clone out the blue tape, maybe I should just do a mod ha ha Grin
Glad you had a good time.
Feel free to send me the “sky” shots he he, you can never have to many of them in your “textures” folder!

Actually I like the portrait format because it gives it height and the trees give it a sense of scale.
Added a basic mod (because I can)

think you need to keep the trees to give it perspective

Yep, smashing shot in difficult circs. Trousers re a wee bit blown, but I think in answer to your question I'd have cloned out the tape and the ice. Not sure if you need to take off the trees. I'll give it a wee go and see what you think.
