Beautiful light. The cows look to be enjoying the morning sunrise. The mountain is lovely rising out of the b/g......Sandy

Thanks for your mod Jeff - you've captured more detail than I was able to in LR. If there's a next time, I'll get my filters out...

I'm rather glad you didn't use a filter. The brightness doesn't overwhelm the detail of the distant hill, and I think it helps to add valuable depth to the scene.

Great rim-lighting on the cattle, creating real impact in the FG. V2 draws the hill in closer for added drama although next to V1 it seems less natural. I think while the mod has more contrast, it appears to have a halo on the mountain so I prefer the original!

The side and rim lighting are such prominent features in this Highland landscape, Ann: I feel I prefer V 1 without the slight darkening of the sky.
The smoke from the burning of the heather adds so much to the atmospheric impact.

Very lovely light on the cows. And I like V1 because I feel the light background is more as we'd see it naturally.

The lack of a filter has not harmed, Ann. The smoke just above the fg continues in a very natural way upwards in the image to cover the distant mountain in a veil, as it was when you saw it.

After looking at V2 and the modification, I have come back to V1, it has a lot of atmosphere, and I don't think it needs anything done to it.

V1 for me Ann. I don't think you don't need a darker sky - look at the light and the shadows in the fg - a dark sky would not have given you them.

Really lovely shot Ann. I believe V1 works better because the light matches the recession of clarity and gives the image atmosphere.

Love the rim lighting and the lovely misty landscape. V2 by a whisker and I like the mod too.

I'm going with v1 on this a fine capture and perhaps would have not got the mist so well with filter on......

v1 for me, the light in the second one is a bit weird, no 1 is magic
I'd be inclined to stay with V1, but add just a bit more sharpening in LR which will also lift the contrast and give more detail in the steamin cattle.

You get what you grab in situations like this, you can fiddle and fiddle, but only you know what it looked like on the day Ann.

Thanks Willie - I do like the increased contrast in the foreground - I'll have to have a fiddle with the original. Thanks again for your time.
