Caught in the Web

By Acancarter
A dark web Saturday Shadow Shot taken in the gardens of Versailles! There wasn't a Shelob around the corner and we all survived.

Thanks for the votes and comments on 'the two of us..' yesterday, most appreciated!

The effect of the light on the posts is quite extraordinary, this has a hypnotic effect. And I like the idea of the web - that would maybe work even better with a tighter crop, take off some of the bottom of the frame to concentrate on the pattern of lines rather than the context of the path.

Very nicely seen Andy. It certainly is like a spiders lair!

I love the length and the perspective. I do see where Moira is going with a crop but I do love a long lead in and I'd err on the side of leaving it Andy...

You are pretty good with these geometric images, remembering the fabulous trees. Are you an engineer?

Thanks Moira for the mod, I like the changes you have made - it makes the ladies - Liz and friend Georgina, who lives in Paris! Your framing makes them look like they are being targeted - a bit sinister! I'm going to did out the raw file and see how much I'd originally cropped. It is tempting to be a bit 'wide' with subjects like this.. shame to have great wide angle lenses then crop it away! Black background with square crop is excellent.

Thanks Kath for your comments - yes, I am an Engineer, trained as a Physicist. An optical/ optoelectronics engineer to boot, so I'm always playing with optics/ lenses/ geometry/ electronics etc as you will see from some of my blog posts - have a quick look at these, will give you some idea of how my mind works! My hamonograph project ('Harmony of Light') is maybe best viewed on my Smug Mug site, although I have posted some here. I'd be interested in your thoughts. I'm now retired, but still involved in some voluntary engineering projects, some of them optical!

I shall have a look Andy! It is the eye for line and form.

Like Moira's mod too.

Works for me as you've presented it Andy 👍 Wouldn't have had the same impact without the Saturday Shadows on the ground, it would have broken up the 'webs' pentagon shape 😃
Trev 😀
