I was traveling in North Kolkata through a place named "lohapotty" {it's not that pottyWink} where's there a lot of steel and iron factories are situated. A man asked me to capture his photograph holding the iron and when I captured his photograph, another man held his friend's head like that. Street photography is kinda fun as well, isn't it?

A very nice photo in perfect B&W
Only the picture has a few disturbing elements
I think the picture is better and stronger when you remove the gray spots on the inside of his right arm and above his right hand.
This also applies to the checkered fabric above his left shoulder, make this grey.

Success,
Joop

This is great, I love the way the two arms are in similar positions. It might have been interesting to see more of the person to the right (maybe including the elbow), although I think it works well as it is. The man stands out strongly against that dark background, but there are a few bright areas that are a bit distracting and the area around the eyes is very dark. What processing have done on the image already?
I have uploaded a mod with some localised levels and curves adjustments (using layer masks in photoshop to apply adjustments to particular areas). I have tried to bring out a bit more detail in some of the shadows and brighten his eyes a bit. I've also darkened some of the distracting bright areas that pull the eye away from the subject.

A brilliant portrait.

I really like what Tom's done here. He's done more subtle editing than I can, and has brought out just enough detail in the shadows.

The shadows are badly underexposed, or you have done something awful to them in processing! What mode were you using? The image is underexposed, even if you want a dark look to it. It's better to start with a fully-exposed file, and process to darken things than to underexpose.

Otherwise, I might have moved a step to the right, so that the whole of the background was dark, rather than having the bright area in the top right corner.

This image would be awards material in the main gallery, I reckon.

This is excellent.

Loaded a minor mod thats cropped; bright spots removed as Tom did; gave him a small catch-light in one eye as they are both so dark.

Good work,

Regards

This is classic moment-in-time photo journalism. To what extent you decide to adjust the moment later is up to you. But aesthetically Willie has done what I wanted to do, in removing the bit of poster top right and striped fabric bottom right background.

Well done. Carpe diem - seize the day.
