Chain Works

Another exhibit from the Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, at Stoke Heath near Bromsgrove, in Worcestershire.
This is a 19th century chain making workshop that was rescued from Cradley Heath in the Black Country. An area of
the West Midlands that was once at the heart of the industrial revolution.

Hard for us today, wrapped up in all the H&S regulations, etc., etc., to imagine just how tough a working life it must have been working on that heat and those conditions.
