Chained

By chase
Last one in my set of images with the big cog, had to be a B&W, I don't do enough Blush
My favourite from the set is yesterdays frame, with the Moth.

Lit by my handheld led light, high and slightly camera left ( I stood on a chair)
An HDR image, 3 frames each 1 stop apart, combined in Lightroom, converted in Nik and finished in Photoshop with a brightness and contrast adjustment.
Again, the darkness was important as I think it improves the depth of the image.

Thanks for getting here.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.
Take care, stay safe and smile.

Excellent image Janet. plenty of highlight and shadow detail, and great texture on your cog (which looks like it's from a gearbox). I really like that you produce lovely still life images using a single light source, natural or otherwise, an encouragement for those think lighting has to be complex.
And this time I like the darkness!

I really like this in B&W Janet, beautiful contrasting tones highlighting the light and shade. Love the composition, especially the placement of the oilcan with the spout arcing over the cogs fully bringing everything together. Award worthy......most definitely, superb!!!

Angela😄
Beautiful tones and textures captured Janet and the lighting is spot on.

Works well in mono Janet. Not to harsh, good toning.

It is probably an optical illusion (or I need an appointment at a well-known opticians) but the teeth of the rear cog, seen through the centre of the front one appear to be magnified.
Perfectly light, just enough to bring out sufficient detail in the metal surfaces without revealing too much.

Another excellent still life, but like you, my favourite is the one with the moth.
