Seaton Delaval Hall is fully open again, after the National Trust's biggest ever restoration project.
The Hall was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh (Blenheim, Castle Howard...) for the Delaval family, who were famous for their boisterous practical jokes. I have a suspicion that they would have been unbearable.
The restoration has kept their spirit alive. The West Wing has an upside down room (see the version), and the replanted South East Garden has joke mirror features hidden off the beaten track, to surprise visitors.
There will be more uploads...
Thanks for looking,
Moira
