Chao Tom

Continuing with my food theme from Anise Restaurant in Chandler, AZ, I present Chao Tom. Chao Tom is a Vietnamese dish made with ground shrimp, wrapped around a piece of sugar cane and grilled. One peels the grilled ground shrimp off of the sugar cane & eats it with thin rice noodle, lettuce, mint leaves and other condiments. The sweetness of the sugar cane complements the flavor of the shrimp very well.

Anise Restaurant is owned and operated by some of my friends who asked me to take photographs of the dishes they serve there. My compensation is the enjoyment of the food afterward.
