When I started playing with this old manual lens I used high ISO speeds to try and avoid blur. After a series of test shots It transpired that the blur problem was neither the fault of the lens nor of the camera but with my eyesight, in that I'm having difficulty seeing the point of sharp focus in the viewfinder.

A wonderful capture....with your M1, have you tried using focus peaking for manual focus? And adjusting the diopter on your viewfinder? I shoot with one also.

Thanks Peter,

Unfortunately, focus peaking doesn't work with non electronically linked old manual lenses. I do sometimes forget to set the diopter adjuster. It's also me getting old, being a spectacle wearer and having to take specs off to use the viewfinder. Bright sunshine from the side or front is worst. A large rubber eye-cup would help.

Welcome to the club! Mine isn't the view finder, it's trying to determine if it's a sharp focus on the computer screen. Depends on the day, it seems.

Among other things, I like the background to this guy. Dora
