Standing in the market area near the Ponte Rialto facing onto the Campo San Giacometto, and a stone’s throw away from the shop in my previous upload, the Chiesa di San Giacomo di Rialto is called the Chiesa di San Giacometto by the Venetians because of its small size. It is considered the oldest church in Venice, and was first built by the vow of a carpenter in the time of the first arrivals on the island, in the 5th century. The present building dates from the 11th and 12th centuries and is probably connected with the origins of the Rialto Market, built in 1097. In 1513 the church was saved from a serious fire which destroyed the greater part of the market, and it was restored the same year. It is noted for its Gothic door and especially for the huge clock on the façade. Like the Orre dell'Orologio in the Piazza San Marco, the clock has numbers 1 to 24 in Roman numerals, and a single hand decorated with an image of the sun pointing to the hour – I think it’s showing the correct time, too!
It’s often photographed more head-on from the opposite end of the Campo, so decided to frame it with one of the stone arches. I think the chap in V1 must have been to the shop in my

V1: 1/200 sec, F11, 20mm, ISO 100
V2: 1/160 sec, F11, 55mm, ISO 100
Looks a little better seen large if you have the time.
