We are so used to seeing the brightly coloured butterflies it is bit of a down to see a drab moth. However, an excellent image of this moth. Using the bright flower as a background has shown it up to advantage.

Fine shot Alan. Look up the Butterfly Conservation branch in the area where you live and arrange to send someone at branch a copy of this photo. I suspect this is a Grizzled Skipper but someone from BC will know. Unless of course someone on EPZ knows for sure. David

David, I'm pretty certain it's a Chimney Sweeper Moth.
