Chocolate You Can't Eat!

By Ade_Osman
Chocolate You Can't Eat!........Although bats love em'!

As promised these are some images of a moth known as a Chocolate Tip-Clostera curtula, usually they show their tail, but this specimen didn't for some reason? Very closely related to the Buff Tip moth which I posted yesterday, but a lot more scarce having a very patchy distribution in the southern parts of the England and elsewhere in Scotland.
V2 is a image stack close up of the moth, V3 is a little bit blurry, this is because it's wings were warming up and thus trembling ready to fly off. But it does give an idea of what the wings look like when fully opened.

Apologies for not commenting too much at the moment, it's just life getting in the way of things as usual, but I will try and catch up with every one soon.

Ade

Three tasty treats Ade, again tempting but not up for grabs. Beautiful natural colours and clear crisp detail.

Great set of shots Ade. Not seen an image of one of these before. Very similar shape to the Buff Tip as you say.

I think image 2 is a stunner. Quite an unusual angle and only able to get it all focused due to the stacking. An extremely powerful composition. It makes those hairy legs look huuge!! Smile

I think that moths were made for the MPE-65 and stacking as they're a very co-operative subject which is essential for the technique. I don't really recall seeing any moth shots other than yours with the MPE-65 but surely there must be some others doing it out there?

Regardless, your images are bringing moths to me in a quite unique and stunning way. Keep 'em coming!!

It's also getting me wondering if I can be brave enough to have a go with one for butterflies!

Three terrific macros Ade, all chocked full of detail and colours, I like them all but particularly v3 where the moth nestles nicely into the bark

Oooh...all 3 are SUPERB, Ade. I love the pulled back close-ups, in general, but V2 is fabulous for that view of its furry flat face! And I like how it looks like it's holding on to the bark for dear life Grin
