Christmas cactus

By oldgreyheron
We bought a pot planted with a variety of plants as a table centrepiece at Christmas. The plants that survived have been growing on on a windowsill ever since. Suddenly as we approach Easter the christmas cactus is producing marvellous blooms.

This image was taken with the IXUS in macro mode against the light from the window. I had to clone out a little out of focus background and have tweaked brightness, and contrast and added a touch of USM.

1/250s f2.8

I do hope you like this - I find these flowers fascinating! Thanks for your time and comments, Mike

Mine has flowered twice this winter, I've looked at it a few times, never got round to trying. the flowers are extraordinary, fragile but a bit reptilean. You've captured this one well.

I once said that to my Mum, who responded

"that's because it's an EASTER cactus!" Wink

Super capture, Mike Smile
