really like the old church and the bridge leading across , nice use of shadow and sunlight and love that red roof! Not too sure about so much sky here though , I would be inclined to crop a bit off the top although I do lke the shading in the sky.
regards Mary

Super shot, although I do agree with MaryG. Apart that tiny detail the shot is superb and is excellently composed.

Love the composition - the shapes, colours and shadow patterns of the subjects and they are even better in the large version! The sky is a good colour but am not sure about the expanse - maybe because it seems to diminish the beautiful church and put it out of reach. Lx

I really like this shot, good composition and nice warm colour.
I agree with maryg, would look better if you cropped the sky a little but great shot anyway Smile

Excellent shot, but I would have cropped the top a little,

The overall composition is good with good f/g interest, good lead in lines across the bridge and an interesting and attractive subject. I would agree with one or two others that there is a slight imbalance as a result of the inclusion od so much sky. I feel that had the shot been in landscape format rather than portrait you might have got off with a big expanse of sky rather better. However having said all that, I', sure there will others who will feel it is just fine as it stands.......I will be interested in what others say and will return again to see.

The colors are most excellent--rich and simple, love this image!

Lovely image, simple composition and interesting subject.
I personally like the image as is, in a large print the large expanse of sky for me emphasis how flat the landscape is, and adds additional tonal interest.
Nice colours and shadows.

Love the composition, but a square crop, removing a chunk of the sky, would, imo, suit this image better. Carol

Very nice shot of the church at Fairfield - maybe a crop to put the church on the third may be better IMHO

I have to agree with the above Mike - wonderful clarity and warm saturated tones - the light is beautiful.

Many many thanks for your support and very helpful comments - it appears there's more to interpreting landscapes photographically and this is going to continue as a steep learning curve for me. When I take an image of a fungi I know exactly how I want to photograph it but don't have the experience with landscapes yet.

I have a few more images from this shoot I'll share over the next few days.

Best wishes,
Mike

went for the large view here Mike, and it is a true beauty, but my own personal view is a little less sky otherwise this is just perfect

You've captured the essence of that great little place with this one Mike.
Can't wait until I'm down that way again.

I feel like the big space above is part of your signature Mike Smile
And it actually makes this a fairly unusual composition, which fits with the warmth of the light. Given that you've got other shots in the more traditional landscape format; I'd keep this one as it is
