Circle of Life ?

By chase
I found the skeletal remains of a bird ( Crow or Rook) in the garden & decided to save him for 'another day',he came out Wink
I had the head/neck & the legs,so,after struggling with fishing line to get the bits in the right orientation hanging from my cupboard doors & trying to balance feathers ( not easy !! Wink )...I came up with this.
Very different kind of subject for me but I think I did him justice.
Really wanted to go much, much darker but I will save that kind of look for another image of him.
It's very difficult sometimes to get to the image I see in my head, this one took me a while Wink

It works for me,so if you managed to get this far you might as well let me know if it works for you.

One that will certainly be committed to the printer for a Camera Club competition...I'm hearing the judge's comments !

Lit only by daylight from the kitchen windows.
Thank you for taking the time to look/comment.

Imaginative project Janet - works for me. What a way to immortalise the memory of this creature...

A little on the macabre side Janet but very well put together (pun intended). Yes it works very well

Strange,my other half said the very same thing when he came into the computer room to see what I was up to.I don't find it macabre in the least,I have the same thoughts as Mike ( Greyheron),I suppose we all see things in different ways...good job really !!!!!

Hi Adam, many thanks for your UA,appreciated greatly Grin

Well worked with this Janet, different and just wonder if the egg needs some ancient treatment too.
As the new shell seems a bit too bright for the rest of the image.
Just an idea

i love the animation in this, however im thinking most nempf judges i ever met will be well confused with this one. im thinking they may say -- its not really natural history Grin and its not really pictorial and it hasnt got a tree on the third -- think they may sit on the fence and give it a 15 Wink

or a 2 or a 20 so that makes it good either way

Richards suggestion is a really good one.

Very inventive and totally unique.
I'd be interested to hear what the judges have to say.
Richard could have a point about a bit of texturing on the shells.

Hi Janet - food for thought here. Your usual fine detail.
I'm not sure if it should appear upright with the eggs grounding the image - or if it should appear as if it were lying flat in a case/cabinet as in a museum etc.

Great shot, top marks for pulling the elements together so well.

I'd leave the egg shell alone, the fact that it is clean and new emphasises new young life- which is what an egg is. The general state of decay of the bird emphasises old age and the passage of time (death). It provides a contrast in the image.

I love it, please tell us what the judges say.

Thanks all.
Well....I was going to leave the yolk in the egg to make it the 'Life'...that would have put the cat amongst the Pigeons I reckon Wink
Neat point Richard, thanks for your thoughts & honesty,I thought the egg needed to be without texture as it is the beginning of life, the new bit, didn't think it would fit if it was on the grufty side.
Hi,I like confusing judges,it's the look on their faces when the image is put under the lights, I can't wait for that moment Wink...I just have to get it into the right category !

Done one like that Brian,it may get an airing, may be not as my intention was to be a little 'off the wall' with this, something extra to think about, something extra to tax my creative streak.A bit of an adventure for me as my usual stuff is fairly steady so...I had to go with the flow & do what my head told me to do on this occasion Wink
I will let you all know what the verdict from the judge may be...Oooo the tense moment when he looks, then collapses, not knowing quite what to do !! Wink

I like it a lot Janet, a bit macabre Wink my only comment relates to the egg. I can see Richards point. It looks a bit like a hens egg. I did a quick search for rooks eggs, they are aqua marine with black splodges. You can get blue hens eggs, I think from large sainsburys. The inside could do with some red tinges, like a new hatchling, worth searching out for the comp.

My first reaction was shock, expecting a pretty flower! What an imagination you do have. It's a very powerful image and cannot but get a reaction from the viewer. Nothing bland about this. I too would love to be a fly on the wall at the camera club. Do let us know what is said. PS I think it's great Smile

Now, isn't that just wonderful. So imaginative and beautiful. You've retained the bird's dignity and given it new life. Top, top shot.

You collet some weird things, but you make wonderful images from them, not sure this will become a new advert for eggs though LOL
Cracking work Janet, should do well in the comps, with the right judges

Thanks everyone, some good comments here,I appreciate them all.
Nick,I had no time to look for a Rook's egg & anyways the nests are far too high for me to reach Wink yep it is a Hen's egg but, that was what was around at the unplanned image until I got the bits strung onto the cupboard, then I had a bright ( ? )
Hi Chris, many thanks for your UA,always good to get one of those.
Cheers for the HC Pete,I'm glad you liked it.
Lol Les,an advert for eggs indeed !!..the 'right' judge, who knows who that will be,I do know one that would appreciate this stuff though Wink
