circus preperations

By gwynn56
this the main street through town , they started to lay turf down the main town center streeet prior to the days events held on the ocasion of the circus comming to town ...oooooops did i say circus , i mean the so called olympic torch relay , this street will be closed to traffic from 3am till 11pm today , though the circus not going down this street it going around the town avoiding it , they gonna be holding events for school children etc on the turf ,, i wonder how much other towns have wasted on this olympic circus
apparently it the local traders that paying for the turfing , the council probably wasting the tax payers money on a big banquet for themselves and a few dignatories over in the main town ,

Turf!!!!! Your town put expensive grass down in the main street!!!!! What a waste!

I'm wondering, has it been a) washed away or b) stolen yet?

I just can't believe any council thought this was a good idea!

An excellent piece of reportage photography, which for me ticks all the right boxes and many more. A very informative pre-narrative.

Great photo, but, I agree it's a waste of money, the council should be ashamed to squander other peoples money like this.

Agree with the comments, waste of money when they are taking free milk from some school children.

I could do with some of that lot - re-turf my lawn just lovely it would. Great reportage.

Great narrative Gwynn. Does not matter what part of the country you live in I believe all councils squander the public money.

Definately a waste of money Gwynn.
As there is hardly any sun nowadays,
the ladies won't even be able to use it for a spot of topless sunbathing !!
Good shot.

I've seen this done somewhere in France where they do it every year for a festival. Can't remember where. Definately a topical picture in these austere times. Well caught.

Don't have much against hosting the Olympics but part of the idea is that there is some betterment, social housing, training facilities etc. but here the turf will have to be lifted again, hardly a Champs-Élysées in the making. Maybe it will go to returf some Council property. Great photo, one for the history books. Assume that grass hasn't been added in Photoshop. Tongue
