City in the Wear

By woolybill1
Durham City, that is; inverted and flipped reflection in the river Wear just downstream from Framwellgate Bridge.

Alan, Leo, Somnath and David (Jasper87) honoured yesterday's photo with User Awards, for which I am most grateful. Thanks also to everyone for v/v/c, all appreciated.

Suggests a Saharan heat haze. Don't see too many of those in Durham.

One of the better water reflection images, Bill.
Works very well in black and white and would probably be a tad messy in colour.

The ripples give a beautiful effect on the reflection, you have utilized it to the fullest...

It looks a bit like a mirage, assuming it ever gets warm enough these days! Well spotted and produced. It pays obviously to look down as well as up! Good mono as per usual.

You're 100% right, John. The river was very muddy and flowing a bit faster than usual at that point.

We all should be out there capturing reflections like this with all the water about! Fine reflective shot, Bill 👍
