City lights

By mrswoolybill
OOF black trouser legs, it's an effect much favoured by BBC documentary cameramen and I had been meaning for ages to try to replicate it. Then it happened by chance.
The full frame will appear tomorrow.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

A reason for auto focus?

Could an OOF photo also be called a "MYO-PIC"?

Not to mention their spelling and grammar on their website.

Expect a lot of BBC cameramen and women to be looking for new jobs, for example Gardener's World has recently been filmed by Monty Don himself and now with remote cameras.

Thanks everyone, and thanks to Pascal for the UA. I wondered how this would fare here...
I have tremendous respect for BBC cameramen, their training is superb. This is an effect that I have noticed in particular in history documentaries, maybe there's one guy who specialises?
I have spent this morning photographing artificial flowers that have blown this way from the cemetery. Feeling more photographically inspired now...

Easier than having to get model releases, I suppose, make all the subjects anonymous. Wink

Thanks again folks. I should emphasise that it is specifically the effect on legs and ankles that I like, making them look spindly thin.

I have been trying to get this effect on beaches in the past, children playing all out of focus. But never quite got the look I was aiming for Sad
I will keep on trying...well one day🙄

Look upon your works ye mighty and ... disappear.
Now you understand how the world looks after a foaming mug of Matron's Medicated Ovaltine! 🥴
The more I look at this the more I like it and the more I like the more inclined I am to bung a gong in your direction. Please give the enclosed a good polish and it will sharpen up a treat. 🏆
Perhaps you should have tried this when you were casually snapping bottoms.
Yours Mrs T of NW.

Thanks Graham, I am looking forward to a foaming mug or two of Mr Chianti's best cocoa this evening...
Fuzzy bottoms, now there's a thought to conjure with.

Very impressionist, not necessarily my cup of tea but you certainly seem to have achieved the effect you were looking for. Hope you and Bill have been keeping well.

Lovely depth of field, unsharp from front to back! It is certainly unusual but it is nice to find a different effect to try, so well done, Moira.
