Clematis Alpina

By bazza2
I love Clematis, but have great difficulty growing them in my garden. This particular species seems to do well though,so I thought I'd photograph it just in case it decides to give up the ghost!

The image has been uploaded smaller than it can be, - its only 400 x 267 with a file size of 46Kb.

Check the guidelines for uploading next time, - you can load it quite a bit larger than this, and it can bee seen and critiqued properly. The size is 600 pixels at the longest edge, with a file size of 70Kb. You can resize using Photoshop, then "save as", adjusting the quality to get the 70K file size, - then sharpen a little before uploading. Ive noticed that all you uploads have been to small so far...

From what I can see, its got nice shallow depth of field with the foreground drops in focus which is desirable in this type of shot.

Where I live, in Canada, the Jackmanii variety of Clematis grows better than most, - have you tried this? Also grow a low lafy plant in front of it to keep the roots cool and damp.

A nice attempt here and i'd just suggest two things about the comp. First, I'd clone away the distracting blurred bit of purple bottom left. Secondly, try doing a mirror-flip and see what you think. As the eye reads naturally from left to right, the lead in works better that way - give it a look and see .

Hope that's some use
