Clematis Etoile Violette

My monthly floral offering.

I wanted a robust clematis that would cover my backdoor archway, and it has certainly done that.
It’s a vigorous climber that produces a profusion of eye-catching deep purple flowers with creamy centres.
It has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit due to its outstanding performance in the garden and its good resistance to disease.

Superbly composed capture of this plant, and framed against a complimentary coloured background. We have a clematis (Montana) on a back fence and in about ten years, it has travelled all the way along the fence, some 30 feet, and produces masses of blooms in early summer. Unfortunately, they do last very long!
