hi all,

thank you all for the nice comments on my last upload.

this is a grab shot taken in a central street of Milano while walking with camera held along the body. The LB lens was pre-focused and pre-bended.
There are many technical imperfections, I agree, but still it conveys a message of humanity, IMO, and the blurred face somehow preserves the privacy of this man.

have a great day and thanks for looking

A brave procedure with a Lensbaby, Francesco - I mean, shooting from the hip (as we call it). Here the focus has landed more on the cuff of the man's sleeve. BUT it really doesn't matter: it emphasises the uncertainties of existence on the street. The gesture is already blurred by the time the knuckles bend and the fingers reach for the bridge of the nose, joining the bowed head in an expression of sadness. A gentle, humane characterisation.

The joy of street photography for me is that while the chances of failure are relatively high, when it works you have something totally unique, unrepeatable. Doubly so with an adventurous technique such as this. Intimacy and privacy in a fleeting moment.
The blur suggests doubt, uncertainty, but we're moving past too fast to find out. So questions remain unanswered, which is I guess how I prefer.

I love your unique description for the ''lensbaby users handbook'' about pre bending the lens !!
Works well here.
A fine shot.

Such emotion in this. What an awesome shot. The little reflection to the right seems to have a meaning in this to me. There feels like something between the two to me. Makes my mind go in many directions. A really good one Francesco..............Sandy

I'm loving this. I don't think you could have done any better by contriving the shot - splendid stuff.

I'm with Sandy here: the ghost of a figure in the background seems linked to the old fellow's sadness - his past? It's behind him, misty, hardly real, unreachable. Such an emotionally charged image, with the blurred face preserving his privacy, as you say.
