I do not think I would have recognized them, without the into' notes, Pamela. Your notes are quite interesting, as it explains a lot about their life cycle. Beautiful details in your close-up.

Peter is right , the Jack pine and lodge pole pine both need a forest fire to release their seeds from that protective layer . Great idea for macro and fascinating discussion.

I thought it looked like loaves of bread! In any case, a finely textured image that is smack in the middle of your personal photographic "style". Enjoyed it!
