Lovely set, V4 my favourite. In that one, also V1 and V5, I suspect that you have lightened shadows over the foreground but it leaves a slightly flattened, 2-dimensional feel. I'd like to see a bit of added contrast there. Just a bit, to bring the foreground to life, make me feel that I could walk through it...

A fine set, v1 is my favourite. I have had a little play and done a mod.
As for prints being too dark, what works for me is to increase the brightness by some 30%[trial and error] just for the printing, not for the saved image. Much easier than all that brain scrambling profiling stuff.

Just did a Mod Ann, I tonemapped the image in Photomatix Pro, it gives it a bit more bite, hope you approve, it is a great capture.

Mod as promised, Ann. I've cropped the land and left it dark for the silhouettes... the emphasis has to be on the cloud and colour for me. I've removed the cyan and magenta colour from the clouds leaving them a more natural grey which also shows the orange off better I think.

No use asking me for advice re competitions. From what I have heard, competition judges are so hidebound by rules that they wouldn't recognise creativity if it jumped up and bit them. But you never know, so I have uploared a modification of my favourite shot that might help.

thanks Lynne and everybody leaving comments or a mod I am honored that many of you have taken the time and effort to upload mods and explain to me how you have achieved the result.
I did naturally browse entries in the comp today and while I was not expecting to win I did get awarded 2nd place for my shot of the beach and woodland flowers but have to say both my hubs and I were not overly impressed with most of the winners in any category, just one stood out for me and that came under the heading of LEGS, what the judge was thinking of I have no idea but as Lynne so rightly comments they appear to have a weird idea of what is good and what is not!
