Clouds After Sunrise

By AdamGriggs
This is a photo I took in the early morning, of the newly risen sun shing through the clouds.
I have only changed the levels in photoshop (even that didn't do much!), otherwise this is the original image

Hi Adam, welcome to EPZ! Smile

I really like this shot. You've caught the early morning light brilliantly, I really like the cloud effect! Because of the low lighting I think you needed a tripod (or firm surface), this would have given you some crisp silhouettes on the horizon (as it is they're a little on the soft side).

I shall look forward to seeing more of your work! Smile

Ideally you need a subject to act as focal point with the sky as a background. The sky has to be very dramatic indeed to stand on it's own.

As need a point of interest to anchor the composition. A silhouette would do fine, probably lower left to balance the sky shapes.

You also have a dust spot on your sensor top left, which you need to get rid of or clone out of your images.

Well done great first upload...Love the contrast of bright and dark color on the clouds then the almost black ground.
