Hello Jos! Its been quite a while, - hope you are well.

This does indeed look like the Egyptian Pyramids in silhouette, as you have shot it underexposed overall. Might well be deliberate, - but anyway I thought I would make it look like the roofs of houses against the morning sky as the sun rises. And it does look quite nice like that too.

The mod has a +1.6 exposure increase.

Regards

How were you metering? This is rather underexposed, increase exposure and everything wakes up!

Modifications uploaded - I increased exposure by one and a third stops, reduced contrast, and added a wee bit on the clarity and dehaze sliders. For my eye, the sky now looks cleaner, more glowing. See what you think.

In the first mod I haven't touched white balance, the woodwork has a blueish tone but the sky looks right to me. And that's what this is about... But I am adding a second with colour warmed up a bit. Better on the buildings, not so successful on the sky I think.

Why F4.5, I wonder?

Welcome back Jos.

It's the exposure that has let you down. While the bright sky will influence the exposure, you were in Manual mode also, so I wonder if you forgot to meter this scene and used settings from a previous shot?
I'd also like to see more of the buildings as they make a strong shape and to see the complete windows would be much more pleasing as well as being a more considered composition.

You didn't need to use f/4.5 unless you were actually looking at lens performance as f/8 would be better for that. Having said that, at the size on here at least, performance looks good, so I hope we'll see more from you using this lens.

I can see several possible pictures in here, Jos.

From what you wrote about this, I suspect you're seeing this like the plume of cloud drifting away from a mountain peak... The way that the central house and the cloud are placed next to each other is suggestive.

To be honest, I think the tree spoils this effect - could you have moved to get rid of the tree? And I don't know that the other houses add much to the composition.

I shall play with this, and see if I can enhance the look that I think you may have been looking for...

Thank you all for your comments. Will play some more and let you know what the results are.
In principale this was the the picture that I had in mind (settings could have been better, different though)i
The clouds seems to come out off the tree. The sun almost not visible.
And thanks for you mods will send PM later. Not feeling that greaty right now

If this suites what you wanted, great, but what purpose would you use this image for?

For me, it is very under exposed and with little interest in the content. I'm not very arty as most here know, but i find it difficult to fit this into any clear genre.
