Coat of many colours...

By ladynewbury
Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus).
Semi-tame lorikeets are common daily visitors in many Sydney backyards, though many people, ignorant of their dietary requirements, feed them bread or bread coated with honey. This is an inadequate source of the nutrients, vitamins and minerals that the rainbow lorikeet requires and can lead to health and feather formation issues in young lorikeets.

Thank you for your interest in my 'eye spy' frog image, and special thanks to David (David Gibson), Peter (ddolfelin), Sue (Sue118) & Kate (Irishkate) for giving me their special UAs. Pam

Lovely colour, however the eye needs to be sharpened. Easily done, sharpen it on its own, - it well worth it for such a nice shot. I tried it and its effectice.

I had the chance to see these close up in Sydney... they ate seeds off a windowsill at a house we were staying at . It was amazing to hang around and watch their behaviour I must say. Stellar shot Pam agree with Fred on the excellent plumage detail !

Whoa!! Now this is a rich and powerful portrait. Recent research has shown that these bird families have far higher intelligence that was first thought. TG

wow these guys are amazing we have them, visiting us. We give them fruit or lorri wet a special diet you can get from the vets. Bread as Pam says is not good for them and neither is seed. They have fine hairs on their tongues to lap up nectar in flowers
Great shot
