Cold Herring Hotel

By dukes_jewel
Hôtel du Col d’Hérens was constructed at the end of the 19th Century and at an altitude of 1760 mts. Behind the hotel on a little used path leading to Bricola and on to the foot of Dent Blanche is a monument to English climbers who frequented the area during the 19th and 20th Centuries. Cabane de la Dent Blanch is reached in about six hours from the Hotel - it has about 55 places and is manned from July to the middle of September. Dent Blanche is considered the grandest mountain in the Alps. It was first climbed in 1862.
