Collecting breakfast

By peterjones
It is very early in the morning at Tawang monastery and it is breakfast time; this young Buddhist monk turns and looks at me the strange Westerner with a camera just for an instant before joining the queue for his turn to fill the pot and for his breakfast of spinach and unleavened bread washed down with buttermilk tea; I wasn't the greatest aficionado of the tea but the spinach on unleavened bread was delicious.

A word on food in India; the food dished up as Indian food in Western restaurants is not a patch on Indian food which is unprocessed, fresh and nowhere nearly as spicy and dare I say saucy as here in the UK; needless to say that food in India is perfectly safe to eat save cold food that has had any contact with untreated water; the only time I had an unsteady stomach was the last night in New Delhi at a five star hotel .... too rich food and a change of diet; Imodium soon put it right!
