Hi Everyone,

I am rather chuffed to have won the Christmas Card Competition . the only thing is I already get E2 membership due to being a mod & section editor. So I have decided to give it away.

To win this fabulous prize simply create an image on the (new years) theme of LOOKING FORWARD. Then upload it as a modification to this picture.

Judging will take place on the 1st of January (2nd if the hangover is really bad).

Well when I started this I thought it would be just a bit of fun, judging the pictures has been far harder than I could possibly have imagined. The quality and number of images submitted is far higher than I expected and has made the decision really really difficult.

I have done everyone the courtesy of commenting on their and I have also awarded marks out of 20 for each shot.

Good clear shot of the sunflower. Bright colours conveying a warm summers day.
Though I think I would prefer the flower head to be on the left looking across some space to the right.
A summery image to look forward to indeed. 16

Good litteral interpretation of the theme.
Lovely sharp image, just a little disappointing that the horizon/future is so empty. 17

Great lighting and good interpretation of the theme and well tailored to the theme and site!
Initially its not totally obvious that we are looking at a pair of glasses though, perhaps a slightly wider angle would help? 18

A beauty of an image that certainly makes one look forward to summer. 19

Nicely thought out image that works well. 18

Nicely composed image that gives a real feeling of open horizons and possibilities.
Personally I would crop a bit off the right though to remove that strip of blue sea. 17

A boat leaving the harbour for new shores, appropriate to the theme indeed.
I think I would prefer the boat to be at a slightly different angle - heading out to sea rather than across the picture. 16

Great shot - well done on getting the shot before Health and Safety turned up and put a big fence in to stop anyone falling from there! 18

Amazing how differently people interpret the theme, this was completely unexpected. Cleverly done and thought out. 17

Very original interpretation of the theme a well constructed image. 19

A lovely frosty image - just seems a little dark to me. Personally I would apply a slight levels adjustment to brighten it. 16

For some reason I find this image really evocative.
The positioning of the figures and the muted colours giving a cross-processed effect, really work for me. 19

LOl a rather fun image. I just canít help noticing that if you had spelt out ePhotozine in full you would have got a load more ECs Wink 17

This a beauty, a great model beautifully lit and posed and matches the theme too! 20

Sue Turner (2)
A good pattern/architecture shot. 17

Sue Turner (3)
Another good interpretation though, for me, it is not quite as strong as the first image from Sue (with itís beautiful warm lighting) - still a goddun though. 19

A lazy leopard looking longingly to the future, nicely done. 18

A good candid shot showing a slice of life we donít often see.
I think though I would like to see just a little more interaction between the two characters as the boy doesnít seem to have noticed her
- but then perhaps thatís the point ? 17

Well composed with great lighting on the brolley too. 19

A classic view of the commando memorial, love the blues of the mountains and skys.
For me it is just slightly spoilt by the bright green colour of the grass which seems a tad unreal and distracting. 17

Another lovely summer scene & typically for last summer it has a lot of clouds in the sky Smile 18

Good use of B&W and a real sense of anticipation in the figures position. 20

Clive Burrow
I just love the lighting on this that gives a real painted feel to the fur, a beauty. 20

What a great location and use of the fog, must see if I can find where you took this from.
Being picky I would say the top is cropped just a little too tight but the beautiful toning makes up for that. 20

A rather strange and fun image, well seen. 17

Iíve tried shooting snails myself and they donít move as slow as people make out!
Technically perfect with a great sense of anticipation. 20

Good composition and use of unfavorable lighting, A real sense of a dull winters day with the possibility of a future harvest in the summer. 20

So the winner is.....

.....BriCurtis for this great Snail Shot

Congratulations Brian and a big thankyou to everyone who took part and made it so hard to pick a winner!

Congrats to the winner and thanks for taking the time to make comments on the pics. The location for mine is easy to find, just under the bridge on the london eye side. I agree about the top being too tight. I'd love to go back there to take more time over it but it was just a lucky grab kind of shot with the girlfriends compact so I am pretty pleased with the result, especially with the fog Smile

Happy new year!
