Coniston On The Dark Side.

By LynneJoyce
Thank you guys, I am blown away at the responses to my portraits of the new love in my life, young Ansel. I daren't tell him how many user awards his photos got for fear of him becoming conceited!

Being confined to barracks with Ansel has given me time to do some serious photo editing and experimentation. With this post I have gone over to THE DARK SIDE with a series on monotone and duotone conversions of photographs taken during my brief stay in Coniston. Very uncharacteristic of me I know. Why? I haven't a clue other that that the misty conditions meant that colours were pretty murky anyway so I just took it one step further. Whatever, it just seemed to be a good idea.

I have presented them in the order that they were taken, each with a B&W version and a duotone version hence the even number of images. Will The Photo Mafia ever forgive me for that I wonder? Colour versions will appear in another post no doubt.

I leave the judgements to you.

All 18 images are wonderful. They remind me of a age sometime past.

All are very good Lynne. I do love the b&w when the smoke from the boat is in the scene. And some I prefer the duotone. But...really...I like them all, very much.

Super collection, I must admit each time I have been there it's been misty or raining, I suppose that's why they have so many lakes though silly me.

Sometimes it is good to be coupled up-- after you get used to the idea creative juices can begin to flow--Here, it is very interesting to see how you have used the various mono options--- Some are fantastic and very inspiring--

(do I need to get a dog?? No, a rainy day will do!)

A fine set of images which demonstrates how even the greyest day can be fruitful for photography. Having been in Coniston on a horrid wet, grey day I can fully appreciate these. I do love V7. Lovely reflections of the steamer too.

That's a wonderful old steamboat SmileSmile A great set, the toning suiting the subjects and scenes very well - think I go for V12 & V13 as my faves, showing the boat close up Smile
