Conwy Castle - Wales

By Irishkate
As recommended by Peter (ddolfelin) we had a short stop in Conwy.
A lovely town enclosed within the castle walls.
Some lovely shops - had to resist buying Christmas decorations!
Many thanks for V&C and the kind award from Peter for In Need of TLC!

Conwy Castle is a fortification in Conwy, located in North Wales. It was built by Edward I, during his conquest of Wales, between 1283 and 1289. Constructed as part of a wider project to create the walled town of Conwy, the combined defences cost around £15,000, a huge sum for the period. Wikipedia

A very attractive angle on the castle, with the river below.
I can't help feeling that left quarter approximately of the frame is dead space, there's not really enough interest in the trees. (Could be interesting in winter with bare branches though... ) Here I'd like to crop off the first, largely hidden, tower on the left. Start with the taller tower.

a lovely view of the castle (quite impressive and in a pretty good shape, too) and i am tempted to move the camera sideways to the right to have a wider glimpse of the landscape in the bg

Love the choice of POV. A very impressive building beautifully captured.. If this were mine I would produce several different versions.

Moira more or less echoed my thoughts. An old adage "if it does not contribute to the image - cut it out!!
This would make a tighter image, with the river leading you into the frame.

I didn't expect you to get a picture this good Kate - the whole place is very awkward to photograph!

Many years since I visited Conwy, would have been when I was on holiday with my parents in Colwyn Bay, when I were a lad! 😃 Can't remember much about the town, but certainly remember this impressive castle, and it's a fine capture of it here, Kate 👍
