Cool, running water - mist free

By annettep38
Many thanks for all the kind C&C on the cricket. Andrew is right, he had one before and I have two other specimens in my collection, one from Johor last time, one from Selangor.

Here is a probable flop, as my water is misbehaving according to the rule book. I actually took in on purpose @ 1/50 s, as this speed gives you motion in a traditional motion picture so you get the water as it looks to the naked eye. The temperature was +35 C , it was humid and slippery.,
Then this is a landscape shot and this is me.. so that does not go together. But I decided to be less boring and if you want to criticise, please do. Go on. If you hate it, say so.

Colour version in my opinion is better as it brings in front all the beautiful details of this image, Annette!

Sometimes we over analyise, enjoy the beauty. Why should this be a flop. I don't care if its hot or cold. All I know is that I like it. Why be hard on yourself. Two is as nature intended. Your very good. Me, I'm just old. GrinGrinGrin Peter.

Think I agree. Just by a small margin. Cathy

I like the composition flowing diagonally across the frame and the foliage gives a very good natural framing, Annette. The image is a bit flat - more light and vibrancy needed. The mono is more of an abstract image.

(I've uploaded a mod but the water has come out a lot bluer than it was!!)

Why worry about rules and blurred milky water even though it looks nice is not natural, this looks natural and its the colour for me. - gary

There's room for natural and fine art milky water.
The good thing is knowing how to achieve both which I know you do!
Dave's mod has certainly added some vibrancy.

Like both Annette, the colour just edges it for me for the tones.

I hate all these arguments about the ''proper way'' water should look in a pic Annette.
It is up to the photographer how the hell they want their water to look and that's that !!
And as a Scotsman,I can't understand anyone getting a nip of whisky, and then drowning it with water.
However it is quite acceptable to put your water in it,if it is frozen as an ice cube.
Yes,there is more to water than meets the eye !!

Oh I definitely prefer the mono here, Annette, 'cos it makes the water stand out so well.

Although I do prefer jungle shots in colour most of the time. But here, yeah, the mono Smile The vignetting works a treat too!

Colour for me Annette and congratulations for posting a shot where the water looks like water, not like milk fired from an atomiser.

No correct or incorrect representation of the scene imho. Just shutter speed, available or controlled light and artistic intent. Great diagonal here and going against the 'flow' I prefer the mono for the highlighting effect it has on the waterfall. Excellent photography, Annette
