Greece, the canal that separates Peloponnesus from Central Greece and joins Saronicos gulf with Corinth gulf. Constructed between 1880-1893, a project of the Greek engineer Petros Protopapadakis.
In ancient times between the wall of the Isthmus and the precinct there was the diolkos, route through which transported goods and small ships to avoid circumnavigation of the Peloponnese.
One must be lucky to meet a large ship crossing, the time of breaks of his road transportation.
The morning hours this view, towards the Corinth gulf, is well lighted and I think more interesting. This time, on 04/07/2016, passing through for a few holidays, I was lucky to meet this ship in the canal.

Thanks Isabel for your nice comment. Perspective towards one point gives strength to the synthesis and lets eye and mind to escape...
I wish you a Happy New Year!!!

A super image of this amazing canal, Dimitris. I stood on that bridge some 28 years ago, it hasn't changed much Smile

Hi Carol! Thanks for your nice comments. The photo is taken from the old bridge, really, almost nothing has changed there. On the new bridge (part of the highway) is impossible to stop and look down, or take a photo. So, this is the "classic" point to view in the canal and be patient to cross it a ship...
Greetings, Dimitris.
