Following on from yesterday's "Didgeridoo" upload...we had a Corroboree in our town at the weekend - the first one here for over 100 years. It involved the local Noongar, the Mowanjum people from the north, and most significantly the local Wadjella (white people). The significance of this is being widely recognised as a big step in the reconciliation process between the Indigenous people and Australia's white settlers, and it was a huge privilege to be a part of the occasion.

Here's three young Mowanjum boys, painted up, ready to dance and play their part in the healing process.

Forgot to mention, the colour in their hair is the same rock dust that's used for their body painting.

Hope you keep them coming, Nic, they're great to look at. These three look rather chuffed with themselves Smile

Hi John, thanks for your comment. No the Mowanjum people are from the Kimberley. Their Elder is Aboriginal artist Donny Woolagoodja (from my Man pic) who painted the 35m banner which featured (very) largely in the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics. Donny's spent the last 6 weeks here in town painting a banner with the community which depicts the Noongar tribe's 6 seasons of the year. The boys were so thrilled to be here.

Thanks Mike, Peter and 'bigufe' for your comments too. Much appreciated.
