Counterweight

By woolybill1
As a complete contrast to yesterday's upload here is another shot from the hip, using my 'standard' lens this time. I was walking past the Citadel in Carlisle, didn't even pause for breath. This time the camera was not level - must have been something to do with my rolling gait - so I had to do quite a bit of straightening and cropping later. I retained the right-hand pillar of the arch as a counterweight to the main structure; it is a street scene, after all.

The Citadel in Carlisle is a substantial building. It needs to be.

Wonderful detail to all that brickwork Bill.
I agree with Bernie about the young lady looking mrnacing, but bet she is quite lovely in reality.
I am always amazed at the layers of clothing these younger people wear.
I bet she had white tights & a pink shirt on....
I love how you shoot these pics from the waist, I can't do that as I lost mine a while back.
Well done.

Cripes, I wouldn't want to cross that one. You are so brave Bill, taking a shot of her. Did you have Moira armed with an umbrella in case she came for you.
Excellent shot though and well composed.

Excellent street scene. I have a feeling that there are several ways in which the title can be interpreted.

The perspective is just right on this one Bill. Like the detail in the bricks in the walkway and the building.

Well now, what can I say?
Hilary - White tights and skirt (is that the correct term?), grey patterned t-shirt/sweater top with a black fleece over.
Mick - She came steaming past me at the next pedestrian crossing, about six foot two so not short; as for the sweet, I didn't dare ask.
Iain - Probably at me.
Rende - Correct in every detail.

Well Bill it looks like she never met a calorie she didn't like and they love her too. Living dangerously pointing that camera in her direction me thinks, brave shot !
Could take a bit more contast to bring out the detail in the stonework and blend Miss mini into the shadows for even more menace.
Great pic !

I thought you used the counterweight of the young lady as a foil to the arch and pillar.

I don't see "menacing" but more of a "come-hither-look" Smile. Maybe also reason to keep moving.
What I like here is that almost the entire photo is comprised of squares and rectangles, contrasted by human forms. Very effective.
