My apologies for spending very little time on the site recently. One reason why I have been very busy (apart from a visiting French band...) is that I have been helping to set up a local U3A branch - University of the Third Age. Itís not nearly as high-powered as the name implies, and nothing like the French original that Lucy & Pascal may know. Itís small-scale, voluntary, community-based, self-help study for the more mature citizen.
By way of a social getting-to-know-one-another activity for members, we are running monthly craft workshops. I took my camera along to one, on the basis that photography is a craft.
I took a few shots with flash, then switched the flash off. At the end of the afternoon I said ĎThank you folks, thatís 200 picturesí, and everyone was amazed - there had been no more flashes so they all assumed Iíd taken nothing further. Itís a trick that I shall bear in mind for the future...!
Here are a few pictures, more to follow tomorrow.
Thanks for looking,

A great pair of shots. In V1 the background is just as interesting as the foreground, right down to the bottle (sherry?) on the left!
V2, the hands, the needle, the yarn parallel to the old dear's wrinkles (sorry, laughter lines) - a lovely naturally harmonious composition.
I'm trying hard not to think of Brel's song Les Vieux - but then these ladies are nothing like the oldies he describes.
Smile Lucy

Nice set Moira, good candid work as ever, I hope you can expand on 5 as the colours should work well in a sparkly way.

Love those shots Moira. Great idea for a shoot-out Smile
# 4 is my favourite for its' colourfulness.
And indeed you are right; Photography IS a craft (allthough maybe less than it used to be in the good, old film days ???). Ha ha, probably I will get a good hiding for that last comment Smile

Hats off to Moira! I really like the idea of U3A, great fun I'm sure. V1 has to be my favourite for those wonderful old folded hands, giving the impression of having finished her craftwork for the day. Keep them coming, Moira.

I do like No 4. A nice detailed coloured image there.I am surprised with No5, that you did not go for ''your'' vertical crop for the right hand side only, for No 6 !!! Or is that to follow ???
A nice set here Moira.

Great set of images Moira, its wonderful to see that people are helping some of the older generation to keep their hands and minds busy, well done.

Wonderful series of shots - you have certainly captured the essence of "crafts" extremely well. Myself and a friend organised and held a craft group every week for 2 or 3 years and we attempted all kinds of weird and wonderful crafts. I do wish I had captured some of it on camera as you have!
